After four seasonal ski instructors filed meal & rest break complaints, BOLI is concerned that department heads are not enforcing breaks or meal periods and is discussing that with company officials. Under state law, adult employees who work eight hours must receive at least a 30-minute unpaid meal period and two paid 10-minute rest breaks.
One complaint alleged “there is no time scheduled for meal or rest breaks between ski lessons”. If BOLI finds the company violated any employment laws, the company could face civil penalties up to $1,000 per violation.
